 Dear kids,

Here are some notes about the new historic period we recently started to review. You can also watch the video about Cristóbal Colón arrival to America.

I also include drawings of the book of Frankenstein for those who are waiting to receive their books. We will correct the activities next Thursday (6B) and Friday (6A)

THE FIRST EXPLORERS:



TWO SPANISH CONQUISTADORS:

The man in armor is Hernán Cortés. This painting represents his first meeting with Moctezuma, an Aztec king from present day Mexico.

Here is Francisco Pizarro. He arrived to Peru in 1532.

Here you can see the areas they conquered. The yellow ones were conquered by Cortés, the red one by Pizarro.

There are few remainings from the Mayans, Aztecs and Incas. These are some pictures of Aztec and Inca temples where they offered sacrifices to their Gods. 
The picture that is at the bottom, right is the Macchu Picchu in Peru. It was the most important Inca city.

This weekend take a look to the blog and review:
- The summary of the Modern Age (posted last Wednesday, 7th October)
- Energy.
- Study in the irregular verbs list, verbs from "be" to "forgive". Look up for those you don´t know in Spanish in an English dictionary and write the meaning in Spanish next to them. Exam: Wednesday, 14th.
TIP: Memorise the the three columns writing them on a scrap paper several times.

Today we are going to work about personality in English and you will make a diagram or outline for Natural.

1) Practice with adjectives+ prepositions:

2) Vocabulary: Personality.
- Look up for these words in the dictionary and write their meaning on a paper: bossy, rude, generous, cheerful, patient, serious, reliable, charming, cheerful, stubborn, optimistic, contented, insecure, selfish, sensitive, lazy, shy, disorganised.

- Do these activities on a paper. I’ll post the answers tomorrow!:



 

NATURAL SCIENCE

Once more we are going to talk about energy: What is it, characteristics and types. Read the information below (it´s taken from your Natural Science book 6) and make your own diagram about it. I give you an example but you can do it your way!


And here is mine!! 😊 It´s unfinished, so if you use it you have to complete it. Remember that you are free to do yours.

Just one thing!! I added a type of energy that it´s not in your book: Accoustic energy.

2) Reading comprehension:

The following activity is taken from your Pupil´s book. A boy, whose name is Jim, has written an article in his blog about musical instruments. Read it and do activities 1 and 2 on a sheet of paper.



2) Grammar: Adjectives followed by prepositions:
Read this information that will help you to do the activities below.



Now use the information above to practice the use of adjectives +prepositions with activities 1 and 2. You just have to write the answers on a sheet of paper in a clear way. I mean, the number of the sentence and the missing preposition.




SOCIAL SCIENCE
1) This week we will start The Modern Age in Spain. This period started in 15thcentury under the reign of the Reyes Católicos and it finished in the 18th century. The Modern Age is also known by two other names: The Age of Discoveries and the Golden Age of the Spanish literature.
Read this summary about this important historical period: 







😕Why do you think is this period of time called those two other ways? 
                    What is a"conquistador" and a "explorer"? 
                                 What do you think is a "colony"? Is it something to smell well? 
Think about it and we will discuss it on Friday in a zoom meeting.

Here you are what is expected to do today in Year 6A.

ENGLISH
1) Past simple irregular verbs :
You have to study the whole list. You will have a test when 6A comes back to school.




2) Today we start using your English books, unit 1: A song and a dance.
The topic is about music so you will see:
- Vocabulary about musical styles and emotions.
- Grammar: how to use adjectives followed by prepositions and short answers to express agreement or disagreement.

Let’s start with some vocabulary today. Don’t worry if you read that you have to listen the words. You don’t need it.

NATURAL SCIENCE

Last week we started talking about what is energy and machines. Do you remember? 

Energy is everything that is capable to produce a change in matter. For example: A ball needs something to be moved of place. That something is energy and you can apply it kicking the ball with your foot. 
When you are tired you need something to recover yourself to continue your body activity. That something is what we call energy and you can get it after eating a sandwich and relaxing.

Energy is everywhere! We can’t see it although we can perceive through light, sound, heat, movement...
Energy cannot be created by us and neither can we destroy it. But we have learnt through history to obtain it and to use it in our daily life.

The following pictures will help you to remember: 
- How can we obtain it.
- Machines: Simple and compound machines.

Read them please.








Now watch a video about machines and their types. 

Take a paper and complete activity 2 about machines. Keep the paper well because I will ask for it later. Next Thursday you will have more information.

WEDNESDAY, 17th JUNE 2020
Hi kids! Don’t miss it! We want to see all of you!
El próximo dia 19 de junio de 2020 celebraremos, a través de ZOOM, la despedida de los alumnos de 6º del CEIP ESPERANZA.

Después de tantos años en el colegio, vuestra etapa en primaria, ha llegado a su final. Por ello, queremos celebrar una pequeña despedida online  a través de ZOOM. 

Debido a que se acaba  una etapa tan bonita de vuestra vida que siempre recordaréis, queremos que os preparéis un pequeño discurso de despedida. Para que nos podamos escuchar todos, el discurso puede durar como máximo 1 minuto. 
Tenéis toda esta semana para preparlo. Nuestro consejo para preparlo  es que reflexionéis  sobre todo este tiempo en el CEIP ESPERANZA. Recordad toda vuestra etapa, desde que os conocisteis en infantil hasta este último año en sexto de primaria. Recordad los amigos que hicisteis , los profesores que os enseñaron, las incontables anecdotas con vuestros compañeros y compañeras, las risas, los juegos, las clases. etc.
Después de esta reflexión, intentad crear un discurso a partir de las emociones que sentís.
