 Friday, 15th January 2021

Good morning. It’s Friday!

And here is the Cibeles fountain. A fountain loved by fans of the Real Madrid. Cibeles is the Greek goddess of agriculture, of the fertility of the earth. I hope she helps the farmers because they are having a lot of snow problems.

NATURAL SCIENCE

I attach two pictures below to understand better the process of digestion of food.

Foods and liquids that we have,  have different textures and types of hardness. In order for our body to absorb the necessary nutrients to live, food is crushed at three different times in our digestive system:

- The first moment is in the mouth when the teeth cut and crush the food forming the "bolus".

- The second moment is in the stomach. Gastric juices further undo the bolus to facilitate the digestion of this porridge (papilla) through the intestines. Thus the bolus becomes a mush (papilla)called “chyme”.

- In the intestines the chyme is crushed for the last time by intestinal juices and the bilis to facilitate the absorption of nutrients by the blood through the intestinal walls. This last super porridge is called“chyle”.

What is not absorbed into the blood because it is useless is eliminated through the anus. That material is called faeces.

- Now read pages 14 and 15:

- Use the information above to complete these activities:

Good morning kids,

This is the Neptune fountain in Madrid. The one where the Athletico of Madrid fans celebrate their football team victories. Poor God Neptune, he’s frozen. Tomorrow I will put The Cibeles for the “Madridistas” of Year 6.

Today I would like to have a ZOOM MEETING with you. Don’t worry if you cannot participate. Every family (including mine) are working with computers and it is not possible to use it when we need them.

So don’t worry because I just want to see you, say hello and answer your questions. We have the whole next week to explain things more easily. It is not compulsory to participate.

Yesterday you watched some information about when you have to use a gerund or an infinitive after a previous verb and as Kat said THERE IS NO RULE. Sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️

Once more you have to learn or memorize some pairs. Today I post here the most frequent pairs or combinations to make this learning easier 😉 THEY WILL BE THE ONES YOU HAVE TO STUDY.

- Imagine living at 2,000 meters above the sea level.

- I  recommend you eating the omelette. It’s fantastic.

- Avoid swimming in the sea! Tides are very high now.

- My mum doesn’t mind buying my clothes.

VERBS THAT CAN BE FOLLOWED BY AN INFINITIVE OR A GERUND:

DON’T SKIP DOING THE TASKS BECAUSE I WILL SEE BOTH WHAT YOU SEND ME AND WHAT YOU DO NOT SEND ME. EVERY TASK WILL COUNT AS A MARK.

EVERYTHING IS POSTED HERE IS FOR GROUPS 6A, B AND C.

 Monday, 10th January 2021

Hello everyone:

Happy 2021!

I hope you had a good holiday, that your families are well and that you have the energy to start again. The activities that I propose for today do not need to be sent by mail because I trust that we will return to class on Wednesday 🤞🏻and I prefer to check them in class. However, if the telematic classes are prolonged due to the meteorological circumstances, I will ask you to send them to me. So be careful with the writing in case you have to send me a photo. I will communicate it to you through the blog.

THE ENGLISH AND NATURAL ASSIGNMENTS PUBLISHED FOR TODAY ARE FOR 6A, 6B AND 6C.

Well guys, today we start working:

- English: Vocabulary about shopping.

- Natural: A short video to remember about simple and compound machines and we start with nutrition and the digestive system.

❄️Have a nice day and keep enjoying the snow if you can!❄️

ENGLISH

IMPORTANT: Use a dictionary to do these activities well.

They appear on your Pupil’s Book page 30, Activity Book page 32 and Pupil’s Book page 32.

NATURAL

In Natural I want you to remember the difference between a simple and a compound machine:

-Simple machine: It’s a device formed by one or very few parts. Simple machines are the inclined plane (Plano inclinado), the lever (palanca) the wheel and axle (la rueda y el eje) and the pulley (la polea) There are two more but we won’t see them in year 6. They are the wedge (cuña) and the screw (tornillo o espiral)

- Compound machine: It’s a machine formed by several simple machines in the same device. Bikes, a trolley, a lift or elevator are examples of compound machines.

Now you will see two videos. The first you have already seen it in class and the second it’s quite helpful to distinguish different simple machines used to conform a compound machine.

1st video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GHRZabpsQE

2nd video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxnVMkLfh04

Now let’s start unit 1 about Nutrition doing the wordlist with the English dictionary .

Copy the words in English and write the meaning in Spanish next to.

Finish reading pages 8 and 9 in your Natural Science book. I attach a photo just in case you don’t have the book.
